Samsung reveals unique UWB-based smart door lock in partnership with Zigbang
Samsung has unveiled the world's first UWB-based smart door lock. The gadget, created in collaboration with Zigbang, lets you unlock your front door purely by standing in front of it. Other benefits of UWB include enhanced protection from hacking due to its short range. The tool is enabled via a digital home key added to your smartphone's Samsung Wallet. Additional features of the lock include the ability to notify members of your household via the Zigbang app who is unlocking the door. Plus, if you lose your phone, you could disable the digital home key using Samsung's "Find My Mobile" tool to ensure that an intruder cannot enter your home.
Samsung has confirmed that owners of the Galaxy Fold 4 and S22 Ultra Plus, which have the UWB function, will be able to use Samsung Pay with the Zigbang smart lock. It is unclear how much the Zigbang SHP-R80 UWB Digital Key Door Lock costs in Korea. It is also unknown when the feature will be available in other markets, such as North America and Europe.
