However, if this new capability takes off and finds a home among the Android community, we might be looking at an early version of the next Twitch. The goal of Stre.am is to remain platform-agnostic, which lets users binge streaming content from basically any operating system available. The service is still relatively small on the Android operating system, sporting only 3,500 downloads at the time of writing, but across all platforms it has over 100,000 downloads and remains one of the highest rated services in that bracket.
So what does Stre.am have up their sleeve to make them competitive? Latency, for one thing. Right now, Stre.ams primary competitor in the mobile streaming sphere, Kamcord, has a about a 40 second delay on all mobile streaming. Thats a pretty significant lag when were talking about a service that has users and audiences interacting directly in real time.
