"To welcome Imran Potato into the family, the team at Vans opened the vault to the young creative. And for their first collection together, the two are bringing back a rarely-seen, ’90s skate-inspired classic: the vans old skool womens black. The design is extremely distinct from its original appearance in 1998, as the silhouette has been updated with an all-over suede upper, 3D Jazz stripe, overstuffed tongue, thick cotton laces, and a custom Potato-printed waffle sole.
A series of vans shoes high top mens sale join the collection, all of whose sides are covered with a primitively drawn human hand. This print grips the side panels as it does the tongue, boldly and conceptually evolving the concept of Imran Potato’s viral Caveman Slippers.
To the uninformed, the name “Daniel Johnston” may not mean anything. But to countless family members, friends, strangers and creatives, the American singer-songwriter and visual artist’s name meant the world. Recently, Vans teamed up with the vans for sale cheap, How Are You foundation founded in honor of the late Johnston in order to raise awareness and resources for mental health.
Comprised of the vans slip ons platform, Sk8-Hi and Authentic, the three-pair collection features classic “OFF THE WALL” brand-related details (such as checkerboard patterns), and combines them with the iconic illustrations from Johnston’s catalog. Artwork from the lo-fi figure’s “Respect” and “Don’t Be Scared” albums land on the capsule’s checkerboard print.
