Ich habe es so gelernt, dass KEIN geistlicher (z.B. König oder Adel) z.B. einen Bischof in das geistliche Amt einsetzt. Also wenn der nicht geistliche einen Geistlichen in ein geistliches Amt einsetzt und nicht, wenn ein nicht geistlicher EINGESETZT WIRD!

Das Nomen 'Laie' kommt von Griechisch λαϊκός und bezeichnet Personen, die nicht dem Priesterstand angehören. Tertullian übernahm es als 'laicus' ind Lateinische.
Im Ahd. steht der 'leigo' gegenüber dem 'pfaffo':

"Investitur" bedeutet "einsetzen", hier also jemanden in ein kirchliches Amt einsetzen, eine Bischof ernennen. Und Laie ist, wer nicht als Geistlicher geweiht ist. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laie_(Religion)
Laieninvestitur heisst also, dass jemand als Bischof eingesetzt wird, der kein Geistlicher ist.
Diese Machtbalance und die Machtkämpfe zwischen weltlicher und geistlicher Macht ist heute kaum noch nachzuvollziehen. Im Mittelalter war jedoch die Kirche eine Institution mit gewaltiger Autorität, die der eines Königs in nichts nachstand, unter Umständen sogar die Autorität des Königs übertraf.
Dieser Machtkampf eskalierte irgendwann und wurde zu einem gravierenden politischen Konflikt. Diese etwa 50 Jahre dauernde Periode des Mittelalters um 1100 herum nennt man Investiturstreit. |
