Aber das mit dem Ordensrecht ist eh so eine Sache, da gibt es eine Menge Sonderregulierungen; historisch betrachtet, ist das fast ein Konstitutivum von Orden & Klöstern (Vgl. z. B. Exemtionen --> Waren immer wieder ein Dorn im Auge der sog. Säkularpriester  ). |

Wie gesagt, es ist abhängig vom Kloster bzw. Orden (vgl. c)):
"Prior (praepositus), auch Propst, Dekan, nennt heute das kath. Ordenswesen a) den 2. Oberen einer Mönchsgemeinschaft, der zugleich der Stellvertreter des Abts ist, b) den Oberen eines selbständigen Klosters, das nicht Abtei ist (Vgl. Priorat), oder c) allgemein den Vorsteher eines Klosters, z. B. bei Dominikanern, Augustinern oder Karmeliten" (LThK 8, 3. Aufl., Sp. 598).
Bzgl. der Machtkämpfe stimme ich dir natürlich zu, derer gab es reichlich...

ich wiederhole: in der kirchlichen Hierarchie war der Abt über dem Prior, der Verwalter des Klosters war aber offiziell der Prior, daher waren in vielen Klöstern interne Machtkämpfe üblich.

Klöster, die einen Abt als Vorsteher haben, werden durch einen Prior vertreten und Klöstern, denen kein Abt vorsteht, haben einen Prior als Vorsteher.
Die Antwort auf die oben gestellte Frage lautet also - abhängig vom Kloster - Abt/Prior. |
