Etwas spät, aber: Ich habe soeben gelesen, dass der byzantinische Kaiser Justinian I. als Mönch verkleidete Spione nach China schickte um das Geheimnis der kostbaren Seide ausfindig zu machen. Die Spione schmuggelten danach Seidenraupen in ihren Wanderstöcken zurück ins byzantinische Reich. Das war im 6. Jahrhundert.

Was schliessen wir daraus? Spione gabs zu dieser Zeit ganz sicher.

Ich stimme MI zu.
Spione, Verräter und Bestechungen giobt es schon so lange, wie es die Kriegskunst gibt. Und da könnte man fast sagen, seit der Frühgeschichte der Menschheit.
Intrigen waren in Rom ja fast an der Tagesordnung.

Ich würde sagen Spione sind so alt wie der Krieg. Ein Spion kann sehr gut aufklären und ist für den Feldherren nicht allzu gefährlich.

Ein anderes Beispiel (hab ich mal gelesen): 1077 wurde das Vexin, welches William the Conqueror gehörte, von Philip II. von Frankreich besetzt, weil der Herr des Vexins plötzlich der Welt entsagte. Philip aber hatte Spione an dessen Hof und konnte deshalb schneller reagieren als William, der sie ja eigentlich nicht nötig gehabt hätte.
(Ich hoffe, dass das stimmt, hab im i-net weder Bestätigung noch Verneinung gefunden).
Mehr kann ich zur Zeit auch nicht bieten. Man erzählt nicht so viel von mittelalterlichen Spionen, weil es einfach normal war denke ich.

Ich spiele aktiv in einem onlinespiel, welches in Ostfriesland im MA angesiedelt ist. In dem Forum kam die disskusion auf, ob man in dem Spiel Spione o.ä. einbauen könnte.
Jetzt wurde erstmal eifrig überlegt,, ob es solche Menschen im Europäischen MA überhaupt gab.
Also es werden Leute gesucht, die im MA sich z.B. in feindliche Burgen eingeschlichen haben, um Informationen über die Truppenstärke, schwachstellen, Nahrungsvorräte etc. zu sammeln und evtl Attentäter Aufgaben übnernahmen.
Hat es sowas schon damalös gegeben, oder ist das eher eine Neuzeitliche "Erfindung".
Kann mir jemand quellen posten, die dies glaubwürdig untermauen.
Fundierte Aussagen von Geschichstexperten in diesem Forum sind natürlich auch mehr als ausreichend, jedoch kann man Leute immer gut überzeugen, wenn man noch einen unschlagbaren Link dazu gibt.
